Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
To help in your healing, you may be referred for hyperbaric oxygen therapy, a natural and effective treatment in which you breathe pure oxygen inside a pressurized chamber. You will receive therapy in your own personal and private chamber which has clear sides so you can see your surroundings. Each Chamber is equipped with its own TV with cable or videos available. Of course at times, patients choose to nap during treatment, which is fine also. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy delivers high concentrations of oxygen to your blood stream, which increases your body’s own natural wound-healing abilities.
When to get help for a chronic wound
If you have a sore or wound that is not significantly better in a month, or healed entirely in two months, ask your doctor about Portneuf Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center. We’ll work with your doctor to create a treatment program designed specifically for you.
Patients are permitted to self-refer to our Wound Care Center, which means you do not need a referral from your doctor in order to take advantage of our services. We do recommend, however, that you work with your primary care office to be sure you keep them aware of your health conditions.
On a regular basis, we will send progress notes to your primary care provider so that they are fully informed about your progress. When treatment is completed, your provider will be notified so that they can monitor your health progress over time.
Treatment plan tailored to your needs
Because every patient’s wound is unique, you will have a thorough diagnostic exam to identify the type of wound you have and its underlying causes. Our staff will set up regular appointments for your visits to the Portneuf Wound Center and give you all the information you need to take care of your wound at home between visits.
We check your blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respirations. When applicable, we will also check your blood glucose levels and oxygen saturation levels.
