For decades, hospitals were simply places to visit when sick or in need of emergency care. However, today hospitals are educators and employers, consumers and caretakers, activists and advocates; leaders in assuring the health and well-being of the community. Portneuf Medical Center is a place for ongoing health, focusing on preventing disease rather than just treating it. In additional to high quality medical care, we continue to focus on developing valuable and insightful programs for all the members of our community.
In 2016, we invite and encourage you to come to one of our numerous physician lead seminars, special events, educational programs, and, if needed, our support groups. Most of these programs are offered to the community free of charge.
We are in the process of scheduling our physician seminars for 2016. To get an idea of what is to come, our physician seminars in 2015 featured a breast cancer symposium; proven weight loss options; chronic foot pain; advancements in cardiovascular surgery; how to prevent sports injuries; hand and wrist conditions and treatment options; causes, treatments and surgical options for ankle pain and instability.
Exceptional Support Groups
Red Hot Mamas - , the nation’s largest menopausal management education program, is hosted by physicians to help broaden a woman’s knowledge about her own health. Over a hundred women attend the monthly seminars. In fact, PMC has one of the most successful groups in the nation. There will be 8 seminars in 2016; held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Please check our website for specific dates and topics.
The Teddy Bear Clinic - Parents and children, age 2 to 12, are invited to attend the annual teddy bear clinic. If your child’s stuffed animal can handle a visit to the hospital to get stitches or a bandage, then, if or when, your child needs to visit the hospital for an injury or illness, they will be less frightened. This year, the clinic will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2015 from 10am to 2pm at PMC, 777 Hospital Way.
Brake for Breakfast is a fun, free, drive-through event that includes breakfast, information concerning breast cancer and goodies. This year’s event will begin at 7am on Wednesday, October 5, 2016.
