National Comprehensive Cancer Network

When choosing a cancer center, it is important to pick one that provides a range of services, has access to the latest advances in cancer therapies and research and provides the necessary support programs to help you navigate the challenges associated with a cancer diagnosis.

Inclusive and Integrated Care

While prescribed treatments for cancers follow similar patterns and guidelines across the nation, cancer centers are not created equal.

Look for a place that is committed to making appointments as inclusive as possible. A patient can spend a lot of time going back and forth between physician offices if they are not conveniently located or coordinated. Our care team meets with patients and their families as a team to answer all questions and concerns; from medical oncology, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, financial counseling, and social services to nutrition and cancer education.

In larger cancer centers, it can take weeks for a patient to see a specialist. The process of scheduling is often slowed by increased volume. Here, we are able to make things happen much quicker, in part because of our size, but largely due to the intimate relationships within the Center and the greater medical community.

Part of a Comprehensive Network

NCCN LogoLike other cancer facilities, Portneuf Cancer Center follows published and acceptable treatment standards for cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment as established by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN). The Network is a not-for-profit alliance of 27 of the world’s leading cancer centers dedicated to improving the quality and effectiveness of care for cancer patients. Physicians around the globe use the NCCN guidelines as the standard of care, and insurance companies (including Medicare) make reimbursements based on adherence to NCCN guidelines. To learn more about the standard treatments for cancer therapy visit www.cancer.net.

What does all this mean for our patients and how to choose a facility for your treatment?

It is important for patients to know that cancer treatments are all standardized, intensive and frequent. In fact, patients here receive the same prescribed treatment as they would receive at another cancer center. Each cancer center follows NCCN guidelines and standards of care.

Experienced care indicates that the closer a patient is to a personalized center; the easier it will be – less driving and less time away from family. Additionally, make sure you are choosing an accredited center that participates in national clinical trials. If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with cancer, we invite you to visit our facility and meet our dedicated team of professionals. We can be reached at 208-239-1720.

New, advanced technology combined with our experienced, knowledgeable physician team and staff means your treatments are on par with facilities across the Northwest. All the cancer care and services a patient needs are located here under one roof: medical oncology, radiation oncology, infusion therapy, financial counselors, social work and a cancer nutritionist. This level of care provides you the opportunity to stay at home during treatments. It allows you to be near the support of family and friends, which in itself is some of the very best care you can receive.
