Sports Medicine Institute

The mission of the Portneuf Medical Center Outreach Sports Medicine Program is to promote safe participation in sport through the provision of quality, comprehensive medical care to athletes participating in sport activities throughout Southeastern Idaho, and through the provision of educational programming related to the prevention, management, and treatment of injuries sustained by physically active individuals.

Portneuf’s team of athletic trainers provide daily care to student-athletes at Century, Highland, Pocatello, and Marsh Valley High Schools throughout the school year. This includes both practice and game coverage. We also provide athletic training services to Idaho State University and its Campus Recreation and Club Sports programs. At each of our schools, the team of athletic trainers is supported by a comprehensive team of skilled medical providers including physicians, surgeons, physician assistants, and therapists. All onsite services are available and provided to student-athletes free of charge.

In addition to providing comprehensive sports medicine care at local schools, our team is also onsite at a myriad of other community sporting events. These include (but are not limited to)

  • Southeast Idaho Youth Football League
