Richard Wathne, MD was born and raised in New Jersey. He received his undergraduate degree in biology from Bucknell University and his MD from UMDNJ – New Jersey Medical School. Dr. Wathne completed his surgical internship at New York University/Bellvue Hospital and his orthopedic surgery residency at Hospital for Joint Diseases and Orthopedic Institute. He performed a fellowship in sports medicine at the University of Colorado.
Dr. Wathne is board certified in orthopedic surgery with a current Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the Idaho Orthopedics Society, the American College of Surgeons, the Idaho Medical Association, and the Southeastern Idaho Medical Society.
Dr. Wathne enjoys the Idaho outdoors and is active in skiing, biking, running, tennis, and golf. He is married and has four children.
