About Richard Wathne, MD
Richard Wathne, MD was born and raised in New Jersey. He received his undergraduate degree in biology from Bucknell University and his MD from UMDNJ โ New Jersey Medical School. Dr. Wathne completed his surgical internship at New York University/Bellvue Hospital and his orthopedic surgery residency at Hospital for Joint Diseases and Orthopedic Institute. He performed a fellowship in sports medicine at the University of Colorado.
Dr. Wathne is board certified and fellowship trained in orthopedic surgery with a current Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the Idaho Orthopedics Society, the American College of Surgeons, the Idaho Medical Association, and the Southeastern Idaho Medical Society.
In his practice, Dr. Wathne offers both operative and non-operative treatment for a variety of sports and work injuries. He specializes in total knee and total shoulder replacement surgery and is highly skilled in the use of the Mako robot in knee replacement surgery.
Dr. Wathne enjoys the Idaho outdoors and is active in skiing, biking, running, tennis, and golf. He is married and has four children.
