About Julio Vasquez, MD

Julio C. Vasquez, MD is board certified in general surgery, thoracic surgery, wound healing and wound management. He also has expertise in complex wound care and hyperbaric medicine. He serves as a thoracic and cardiovascular surgeon at Portneuf Medical Center. He graduated with honors (Salutatorian) from the School of Medicine at Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University (Lima, Peru). He completed residency at the University of California – San Diego, in San Diego, CA; and fellowship at Wayne State University – Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, MI.

He serves in several important roles at local, regional and national organizations. He is the current President of the Idaho State Chapter of the American College of Surgeons. He has published more than 50 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals. He speaks Spanish, Portuguese and French, and he enjoys soccer, music, running and traveling.
