  • Degenerative spine disease: Our treatments include lumbar disc herniation and radiculopathy, lumbar stenosis, spondylolisthesis, cervical radiculopathy and myelopathy (discectomy, laminectomy and fusion).
  • Osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures: Our treatments include kyphoplasty and nonoperative management.
  • Brain tumors: We offer metastatic and primary tumor evaluation and craniotomy, with preoperative embolization capability.
  • Chronic subdural hematoma: Our treatments include surgical evacuation and middle meningeal artery embolization.
  • Hydrocephalus and normal pressure hydrocephalus: We offer evaluation, shunt placement and shunt revision.

Emergent Neurosurgery

Our emergent neurosurgery services include:

  • Cranial trauma: We offer acute treatment for epidural and subdural hematoma, depressed skull fracture, severe TBI with increased intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring and decompressive surgery.
  • Spinal trauma: We provide care for unstable cervical and thoracolumbar fractures, acute spinal cord and cauda equina compression, decompression and stabilization.
  • Ruptured intracranial aneurysm and subarachnoid hemorrhage: Our treatments include emergent angiography with endovascular treatment (coiling, flow diversion) and vasospasm management.
  • Acute ischemic stroke: We provide mechanical thrombectomy for large vessel occlusion, medium vessel occlusions, tandem occlusion and transient ischemic attack (TIA) emergent work up.
  • Intraparenchymal hemorrhage: We offer surgical evacuation when indicated, external ventricular drain (EVD) placement and angiographic workup for underlying vascular causes.
  • Spinal infection and epidural abscess: We provide emergent decompression and stabilization.

Ambulatory Endovascular Service

We offer elective, catheter-based diagnosis and treatment of cerebrovascular disease, performed locally.

Our services also include:

  • Diagnostic cerebral angiography for the treatment of:
    • Cervical and intracranial atherosclerotic disease (carotid and vertebral stenosis evaluation), hemodynamic steal syndromes work up
    • Intracranial aneurysm characterization, evaluation treatment and surveillance
    • Pulsatile tinnitus and idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) workup, including venous manometry and stenting
    • Vascular malformations (brain arteriovenous malformation, dural arteriovenous fistula) and unexplained hemorrhage work up and treatment
    • Preoperative planning for tumor and vascular surgery
  • Carotid angioplasty and stenting for symptomatic and high-grade carotid stenosis, including patients at elevated surgical risk.
  • Middle meningeal artery (MMA) embolization for chronic subdural hematoma, a minimally invasive option that reduces recurrence and can avoid or complement surgery, particularly in elderly and anticoagulated patients.
  • Venous sinus stenting for pulsatile tinnitus and medically refractory IIH, previously unavailable in Idaho.
  • Kyphoplasty for painful osteoporotic compression fractures, typically outpatient.
