Eric Whiteside, works in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and is our DAISY Award winner for Quarter 2, 2017. Eric was nominated by a patient. The nomination read:

"This nurse is a phenomenal person. During my husband's stay in the ICU, this nurse treated him and his family with respect and compassion. Although Walter was critical, he kept him and his family informed about the treatment that he was getting. After doing everything humanly possible to help my husband improve and return home with his loved ones, his life would soon come to an end. This nurse stayed in the room with my husband and I for 2.5 hours talking and comforting me until he breathed his last breath. This was helpful to me. He helped me to be strong and be able to stay in the room and support my husband until the end. I will never forget the special person and extraordinary nurse that this nurse is. He turned a horrible situation into a kind and compassionate one."
