Portneuf Medical Group registered dietitians work with individuals and families to improve health, wellness, performance, and relationships with food and body. There are mixed messages online and in the media about food. Our team of experts work with patients to ease any anxiety or confusion around nutritional needs and questions about food and nutrition.

Our team is committed to helping people better their health, wellness, and achieve their goals with personalized nutrition prescriptions, all while standing by our belief that all foods can fit!

The Portneuf Medical Group nutrition counseling and medical nutrition therapy program offers science-backed, evidence-based methods.

How a Registered Dietitian Helps

Each patient receives an in-depth, comprehensive assessment. The assessment incorporates medical history, medications, food and body relationship, and lifestyle behaviors. The goal of is to help patients develop new life-long, sustainable nutrition and food habits.

  • Nutrition counseling and education for specific disease or condition, needs, concerns, and ambitions
  • Nutrition skills interventions, which may include:
    • Goal setting, problem solving, stress management, and thought restructuring
    • Meal planning, including menu selection assistance
    • Meal timing
    • Meals, snacks, and supplement modifications
    • Strategies to manage an individual’s eating environment
    • Strategies to manage thoughts and feelings around food
    • The role of parents in child feeding and child nutrition

Research shows that nutrition-related conditions or concerns take time to improve. We encourage you to trust in the process. Together, we monitor, evaluate, and partner over time to achieve the changes health.

Payment for services

At this time, some insurances do not cover nutrition counseling or medical nutrition therapy for certain preventative care needs or even certain nutrition-related medical conditions. Please check with your insurance provider. If the therapy is not covered, our clinic has a cash pay option.
