About Mark Richards
Dr. Richards received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biomedical engineering from The Johns Hopkins University. He received his MD and a PhD in mechanical engineering from The University of Michigan. He finished his training in internal medicine, cardiology, and cardiac electrophysiology at Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Washington University in St. Louis.
After a stint as director of electrophysiology at Saint Louis University, he moved to Toledo where he was Director of Electrophysiology for most of his 12 years at ProMedica Heart and Vascular Institute. Most recently, he was staff electrophysiologist at Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospitals, a national leader in cardiovascular care.
Dr. Richards has performed thousands of EP procedures including all cardiac rhythm management and ablation procedures. He is well-versed in new technology, including pulsed field ablation, novel mapping systems, and conduction system pacing.
Dr. Richards has been a key opinion/thought leader for many years and is widely published in the fields of biomedical technology and their application to cardiac electrophysiology, the link between atrial fibrillation and cryptogenic stroke, and the implementation of AI in cardiac devices. He remains active in both clinical and transitional research.
Dr. Richards is excited to return to the Pacific Northwest, which he and his fiancée Kelley have called home since they bought and developed DoodleVines Winery and Event Center in Yakima, Washington. In addition to his clinical and research activities, Dr. Richards enjoys hiking, mountain biking, making beer and wine, and playing with their four AussieDoodles on the property.
