Healthy Foods for the Big Game

It's the ultimate time for a party! We typically think of game food as unhealthy; however, you can make a number of healthy choices so you don’t feel weighed down. Here are some healthy foods you can enjoy during the big game:
  • Guacamole- avocados are full of healthy fats, instead of dipping fried chips, try baked pita chips or baked tortilla chips
  • Chili-beans are full of protein and fiber and tomato sauce has antioxidants, top it healthfully with onions, baked tortilla strips and hold the cheese and Fritos
  • Veggie sticks- try hummus instead of Ranch dip, you get more protein and less saturated fats
  • Chicken wings- try skewers of chicken breast cut into bite sized pieces and grilled or baked
  • Dips- go for honey mustard or barbecue sauces instead of blue cheese or Ranch to save on fat
  • Drinks- sparkling water with fruit slices instead of sugary pop and soda
  • Pizza-go for thin crust, chose veggie topping instead of meat, limit the cheese

  • 12 wanton wrappers
  • 1 can low sodium refried beans
  • 1 avocado
  • 1 jar salsa
  • ½ cup cheddar cheese
  1. Spray muffin tin with non-cook spray
  2. Place one wonton skin in each cup
  3. Bake for about 5 minutes in a 350 degree oven
  4. Fill each cup with a spoon full of beans and sprinkle of cheese
  5. Return to oven and bake another 3-4 minutes until wontons are golden and crispy
  6. Top each cup with a spoonful of salsa and slices of avocado
