Healthy Foods for the Big Game

It’s the ultimate time for a party! We typically think of game food as unhealthy; however, you can make a number of healthy choices so you don’t feel weighed down. Here are some healthy foods you can enjoy during the big game:

  • Guacamole– avocados are full of healthy fats, instead of dipping fried chips, try baked pita chips or baked tortilla chips
  • Chili-beans are full of protein and fiber and tomato sauce has antioxidants, top it healthfully with onions, baked tortilla strips and hold the cheese and Fritos
  • Veggie sticks– try hummus instead of Ranch dip, you get more protein and less saturated fats
  • Chicken wings– try skewers of chicken breast cut into bite sized pieces and grilled or baked
  • Dips– go for honey mustard or barbecue sauces instead of blue cheese or Ranch to save on fat
  • Drinks– sparkling water with fruit slices instead of sugary pop and soda
  • Pizza-go for thin crust, chose veggie topping instead of meat, limit the cheese

*Remember beer and alcohol have a significant amount of calories and do not provide any nutritional value
