From Stress to Stillness
As women approach menopause, they sometimes experience a decrease in elasticity and density in their breasts. This can make breasts feel more lumpy or irregular. While this is an expected change it can be disconcerting because it is new and different. Just like when our breasts change in adolescence it is important to learn your new “normal.” Knowing what is normal for you can save your life, and there is no better time to get started than during breast cancer awareness month.
Every woman travels a unique road to menopause. This journey often leaves women uncertain of the physical and emotional changes that occur, why these changes take place, what they can do about them, and where to get questions answered. Through the three stages of menopause, fluctuating hormones can bring about a host of short-term physical symptoms including headaches, hot flashes, night sweats, sleep disturbances, weight gain, anxiety, mood changes and other changes as well.
Everyone is invited to help launch a new community wellness program. Our kick-off for this fun, free and family friendly wellness program is August 11, 2016 beginning at 5:30pm and continuing until 8pm. The event will be held at the Portneuf Wellness Complex. Along with guest speaker, Kyle Cochran, American Ninja Warrior, the first challenge, Step Up, will be introduced and attendees will have a chance to participate in additional fitness challenges.
Floats, marching bands, clowns, fire trucks, sirens, horses, bicycles, costumes, entertainment, scouts, community spirit, veterans and plenty of flags will come together during the Fourth of July community parade. This year the parade will fill the streets with additional entries, new floats and an outpouring of patriotism.
