The Reasons for Hope Have Never Been Greater

Nothing is more precious to a person diagnosed with cancer than hope. At Portneuf Cancer Center, the reasons for hope have never been greater. Our understanding of the science of fighting cancer combined with modern technology and advanced protocol provides every patient we treat with hope, the one thing they need more than anything else. And hope, after all, is the foundation on which all successful outcomes are created.

At the Portneuf Cancer Center, we recognize that the world is different after being diagnosed with cancer. There are new challenges physically, emotionally and spiritually. Patients and their loved ones often have many questions and concerns when diagnosed, as well as throughout their treatment. We also know that patients need to talk to someone who will listen, respond with compassion and advocate as a partner through the process.

Our primary goal is to deliver professional, evidence-based treatments with compassionate assistance to all of our patients, their families and their caregivers from diagnosis forward. Although our Center has advanced and grown, the personal touch and friendly environment remain as strong today as when the Center first opened.

We are often asked how to decide where to go for treatment and how to pick a facility. It is important for patients to know that the treatments are all standardized, intensive and frequent. The closer a patient is to a personalized center; the easier it will be – less driving and less time away from family. Additionally, we recommend an accredited center participating in national clinical trials like Portneuf Cancer Center.

If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with cancer, we invite you to visit our facility and meet our dedicated team of professionals.

New, advanced technology combined with our experienced, knowledgeable physician team and staff means your treatments are on par with facilities across the Northwest. All the cancer care and services a patient needs are located here under one roof: medical oncology, radiation oncology, infusion therapy, financial counselors, social work and a cancer nutritionist. This level of care provides you the opportunity to stay at home during treatments. It allows you to be near the support of family and friends, which in itself is some of the very best care you can receive.

Your Journey Is Unique

We know that cancer is a personal journey. Your experience as a survivor is unique and will not be exactly like anyone else’s journey. In the beginning, care starts with finding the precise treatment and developing an individual, comprehensive care plan.

It is important to learn all you can about your type of cancer and how the treatment may affect you and the disease. During your research, we encourage you to maintain a line of communication and interact with your care team to help answer your questions and to respond appropriately to your needs. Our team will be with you every step of the way. We take great pride in the fact that we are prepared to assist you in everything from monetary issues and diet to your emotional well-being. We offer you collective insight and personal attention, conveniently in one location, and promise to do everything possible to help you succeed.

Part of a Comprehensive Network

Like other cancer facilities, Portneuf Cancer Center follows published and acceptable treatment standards for cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment as established by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN). The Network is a not-for-profit alliance of 21 of the world’s leading cancer centers dedicated to improving the quality and effectiveness of care for cancer patients. Physicians around the globe use the NCCN guidelines as the standard of care, and insurance companies (including Medicare) make reimbursements based on adherence to NCCN guidelines.

Inclusive and Integrated Care

While prescribed treatments for cancers follow similar patterns and guidelines across the nation, cancer centers are not created equal.

In larger cancer centers, it can take weeks for a patient to see a specialist. The process of scheduling is often slowed by increased volume. At Portneuf Cancer Center, we are able to make things happen much quicker, in part because of our size, but largely due to the intimate relationships within the Center and the greater medical community.

We strive to make your appointments as inclusive as possible; no wasted time going back and forth between physician offices. Our care team is available to meet with patients and their families to answer all questions and concerns; from diagnosis, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, financial counseling, and social services to nutrition and cancer education.

Your Cancer Care Team

Portneuf Cancer Center’s physicians are certified by the American Board of Radiology in Radiation Oncology or the American Board of Internal Medicine in Medical Oncology, Hematology, and Internal Medicine, and are leaders in their field.

Our physician team includes two medical oncologists and two radiation oncologists. They combine their individual skills to offer an evidence-based approach to advancing the knowledge and treatment of cancer.

We invite you to meet our physicians. They direct and lead patient care as well as collaborate with surgeons, licensed oncology nurses, and other team members to ensure the highest quality care and treatment for your cancer.
