You are not alone.

Each year in November, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) sponsors International Survivors of Suicide Day, which provides an opportunity for those who have lost someone to suicide to come together for support, healing, information and empowerment. It is the one day a year when people affected by suicide loss gather around the world at events in their local communities to find comfort and gain understanding as they share their stories of hope.On Saturday, November 21 from 10am to noon at Portneuf Medical Center’s Pebble Creek Classroom, PMC’s Behavioral Health Services will be hosting an event to reach out to those effected by suicide, giving them an opportunity to connect with others who can help them through the healing processes. The event includes helpful resources, facilitated discussions as well as a viewing of the documentary, “Family Journeys: Healing & Hope after a Suicide.” The 30-minute film was created by the AFSP to assist others in understanding how to cope with this type of loss. For many loss survivors, attending a Survivor Day event is an opportunity to discover that they are not alone in their experience of losing someone they know and love to suicide. For those who are unable to attend a Survivor Day event in person, AFSP also hosts a Survivor Day program online at survivorday.org. For more information on the event, please call: Charlie Aasand, Director Behavioral Health Services (208) 239-2950
