Giving Back Is the Greatest Gift

When you stop by the Cloud 9 Gift Shop at Portneuf Medical Center (PMC), you might not think you’re making a difference in the lives of others, but every purchase you make funds special causes throughout the community. Eleven members of the PMC Auxiliary currently staff the gift shop, giving their time in four-hour shifts. The shop currently sells a variety of items, including:
  • Cards
  • Cosmetics
  • Flowers
  • Magazines
  • Newborn baby items
  • Purses
  • Scarves
  • Snacks

Prevent Falls to Avoid a Visit to the Emergency Department

Falls are the second leading cause of traumatic injuries in the Portneuf Medical Center (PMC) Emergency Department (ED). Every year, approximately one third of older adults experience a fall, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Emergency medicine physicians regularly treat patients, many age 65 or older, with life-threatening injuries associated with falls.

FREE Speech, Language, Voice and Hearing Screenings

May is Better Hearing and Speech Month. 8%–9% of children suffer from speech disorders, but many parents wait too long to seek treatment. During the month of May, Portneuf Physical Medicine Speech Pathology Department will be offering FREE speech, language, voice and hearing screenings for children and adults. These screenings are available for the entire community at the Physical Medicine Clinic on Benton Street. To schedule a screening, please contact Portneuf Physical Medicine at 239-1490.

National Nurses Week 2015

There are over 3.1 million registered nurses working to make a difference in the lives of their patients and coworkers every day. Each year, America honors their hard work and dedication with a national week-long celebration. National Nurses Week begins each year on May 6th as RN Recognition Day, and ends on May 12th, Florence Nightingale’s birthday. This week, and throughout the year, PMC is proud to celebrate the role nurses play in delivering the highest quality health care.

Idaho’s Oldest and Newest Flight Program

Portneuf Medical Center is pleased to announce that we are partnering with a new air ambulance provider on April 1, 2015. We have contracted with Air Methods, an air ambulance service based in Englewood, CO. At present, they have more than 300 bases of operations serving 48 states; including service to both Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls and the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City.
