Chris' parents, Travis & Jenny Thurston organized the first Crazy Pancreas 5k in 2011 to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) the #1 non-profit funder of diabetes research in the world. Chris and his family also help spread awareness about T1D at their event, and on YouTube through Chris' Quick Tips. All proceeds from the Crazy Pancreas 5k are donated to JDRF to help fund research to improve quality of life for those living with T1D everyday, and to help find a cure. The hope is that one day Chris will be able to say, “I used to have Type I Diabetes.”
This year's race will take place Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Stuart Park in Inkom, Idaho.
Medals will be given to the top 3 overall male & female finishers of the 5k, 10k and kids race. Ribbons will be awarded 3 deep in each age division. The first overall male & female winners of the 10k will also receive a $50 cash prize. This is a family friendly event and running strollers are allowed. However, please be courteous to other runners at the start line by moving to the back of the pack.
